The BALITH project focuses on developing a new organic REDOX flow battery suitable for operating temperatures up to 80°C.

Conventional REDOX flow batteries are designed to operate at temperatures up to 40°C; however, the battery generates heat and requires a cooling system to prevent electrolyte degradation or battery malfunction. This cooling consumes energy and consequently reduces the overall efficiency of the battery. Thus, this new technology will allow operation at temperatures of up to 80°C without the need for cooling.
