13 June, 2023Tedagua recognized for its commitment to those affected by the La Palma volcano
From June 13 to 15, the Alhambra in Granada hosted the XIII International Congress of the Spanish Association of Desalination and Reuse (AEDyR), where the 1st edition of the AEDyR AWARDS was presented. This ceremony recognized projects, research, leaders, and companies that contribute added value and drive the advancement of desalination and water reuse technologies. Tedagua, a company of the Cobra Group, received the award in the Humanitarian Initiative category for its effective and rapid response to the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma (Canary Islands). Tedagua supplied, installed, and commissioned two portable desalination plants that provided brackish water for irrigation to 600 hectares of crops in the municipality of Los Llanos de Aridane.
In response to the water emergency, Tedagua installed – in record time – two portable desalination units designed to produce 2,800 m³/day each. These were operational in just 17 days, whereas the usual installation and commissioning period is 5 to 6 months. The plants helped supply irrigation water to local banana plantations and minimize the impact of the volcano on the lives of the people of La Palma.
