The Cobra Group is undertaking the project for the optimisation of the drinking water supply and sewage for Lima North

The Cobra Group, through its Tedagua subsidiary, is undertaking the optimisation project for the drinking water and sewage systems, sectorisation, network refurbishment and updating the property registry in the Huachipa Plant Area of Influence, in the Oquendo Draining Area, Sinchi Roca, Puente de Piedra and sectors 84, 83, 85 and 212 in Lima, Peru

The main objective of the project is to upgrade the services for drinking water, sewage and improved operational control through the planning horizon of 2038. The project will have a great impact on improving the quality of life of citizens residing in this area of the capital (northern cone of the city of Lima), taking shape through a constant supply of drinking water, improved sewage service and enhancements in the operation and control of the system.

What makes this project unique is the vast quantity of pipes to be refurbished with the trenchless method, to avoid causing disruptions for residents due to open trenches. The trenchless method to be used involves fragmenting the pipes, known as “Pipe Bursting”, which is used to replace existing drinking water and/or sewage lines, breaking or fragmenting the existing or host lines and inserting a new pipe with the same or smaller diameter into the empty space left behind.

The project began in October 2017 and has an completion period of approximately two years.
